STEELEYE SPAN "The Lark in the Morning" CMDDD781

A double CD with 35 tracks. Looking back it is undoubtedly laudable that the band was formed out of a desire to "play the music of the British Isles as opposed to American music". That they did, and cut a fair old swathe for many a day before the band eventually ran out of steam and went their various ways. This collection for a large part, however, is very dated. Sure,"The False Night on the Road", and a few others such as "The King" still hold up, but a lot simply don't, and the instrumental pieces particularly sound strained and clumsy. For true aficionados and completists who will find this good value for money.
