Never heard of FyreFly? No neither had I, but not surprising, as they seem to be based in Denmark. Two of the three members hail from Ireland so you probably can have a good guess at what to expect, and you won't be far wrong. A wonderful instrumental track opens the album and is followed by a strange version of Dylan's "Forever Young" - not sure why the vocals have been mixed like they are. There are two vocalists and no indication who is singing but I prefer the one on "Rosemary's Sister". Having said that it does give variety to the CD.

Jane Clark plays fiddle and is good at it-whether as accompanist, "Done with Bonaparte" or leading a set of tunes. Hailing from England, she has a good CV - Irish Folk Ballet, cruises, recording a solo album etc. Desie Higgins plays banjo and mandolin whilst Shane Donnell plays a good guitar and has written a very emotive song in "Always Someone" - a track which goes down a storm live.

This is not a classic album but one, which will sell after FyreFly's live gigs, and, although I have not had the pleasure to see them, it is obvious this is where their strength lies. These are from their current repertoire, or were when recorded, and show the versatility of the group.
