Long overdue, the "Vin Garbutt Songbook Volume 1" and accompanying CD - both of the same name - from the BBC Radio 2 "Best Live Act" winner 2001. Covering seventeen songs from over twenty years - from the 1970's penned "Valley of the Tees" to the more recent "Troubles of Erin", the songbook is well laid out and easy to read with technical tips, guitar chords/tuning tips/photos and illustrations. Forewords are by Hector Christie and Paul Tilley - you get your money's worth here!

Vin's songs are well crafted and thought provoking and the background notes to the songs fill in the details. The CD stands well on its own as a compilation CD - "the best of" - as chosen by Vin himself so if you don't play and just want to listen, you won't be disappointed.

Vin's live performance can range from manic comic delivery to thought provoking songs - always in control but giving the impression of mayhem - if you haven't seen his live act you are missing out on one of the great performers of our time.
