Gradam Cheoil, the Traditional Music Awards in Ireland, are probably less well known to most Living Tradition readers than the BBC Folk Awards in England or the Trad Music Awards in Scotland. The contrasts in approach and content between the various Awards are interesting and reveal a lot about regional variation and status.
This first video is well worth watching as it gives and overview of the Awards and the background to their organisation.
