Ceilidh Culture is one of Edinburgh’s annual traditional arts festival, which takes place every Spring. It celebrates all aspects of the traditional arts from music and song to dance and storytelling, as well as interactive workshops and the odd exhibition.
Ceilidh Culture is co-ordinated by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Culture and Sport Division, with support from Edinburgh Inspiring Capital. The festival is a profile-raising festival for the traditional arts community under the banner 'Ceilidh Culture' and gives all involved an opportunity to publicise their events. It is also used as a way of making the traditional arts more accessible to a wider audience, many of whom may not normally have the opportunity to get involved.
Ceilidh Culture is a great opportunity to get involved with the traditional arts, whether it be music, song, dance or storytelling – right here in the heart of Scotland’s capital city. Ceilidh Culture brings together contributors from all over Edinburgh and beyond, for three fantastic weeks showcasing local talent alongside international acts.
Whether you’re familiar with the traditional arts or not, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Why not try a music workshop and learn about a new instrument, or listen to a story by one of our master storytellers and let your imagination run free. There are also some great Ceilidhs to get you moving with introductions to dances for those who may be unsure of how they go – so no excuses now – give it a go!
No matter what you’re looking for, with such a diverse mix of acts I’m sure you’ll end up having a great time!
