Geoff Turner

Geoff Turner was well known around the English club and festival scene. A singer of traditional and contemporary material with a particular fondness for the traditional style songs of writers like Keith Marsden and Graeme Miles, he was often to be found hosting singarounds at various festivals.

He was a member of the Roaring Forties, a singing group who mainly perform maritime songs with a reputation for powerful and authentic delivery and with them he guested at numerous festivals. Geoff was also a skilled and knowledgeable MC, who was called upon regularly at these festivals.

Geoff was diagnosed with a brain tumour and towards the end of last year became quite unwell, eventually moving into the St Andrews Hospice in Grimsby for a time. He passed away on 12 January 2015. He was a dear friend to many in the folk scene and will be sadly missed.
