Fèis: The First Twenty-Five Years Of The Fèis Movement |
||||
'This could easily have been a dry recitation of people, places and winners. Instead, we have a beautifully designed, researched and written artefact, dripping with evocative and interesting photographs. The tone is set by the white-hot passion for the promulgation of his language and culture by RunRig founder Calum MacDonald and the book continues with fascinating insights into the way the shape of each fèis developed: what worked and what was left behind. This gives great insights into how to set about producing an event such as this. South of the border we can only read this with admiration and envy - although the hardback version of the book is of a good enough weight with which to belabour Arts Ministers with cries of “what about some decent funding for this sort of thing!” Paul Burgess |
