With Fraser on fiddle and viola and McManus on guitar you will probably have a good idea of what to expect i.e. tastefully arranged tunes, flawlessly executed with flair and feeling. The review could end there as I seem to have run myself into a cul-de-sac with nowhere to go after such an opening statement other than to note some of the tracks. These range from a Gaelic lullaby to the title track whose fuller interpretation "I Will Go Home to the Cattle Fold of Kintail" may have been written by a wounded soldier at Sherrifmuir who feared he would never see home again, and bears the hallmarks of the pibroch song tradition. It was good to hear "Sitting in the Stern of a Boat" again, last aired on vinyl by Ossian many years ago. Although there's a wide variety of different paced tunes, it's the more melancholy ones that are the show-stoppers, which is in keeping with the corner of the world that gives the album its title.

A satisfying piece of work which will not fall prey to changing fashion, because its appeal is a sincerely felt and enduring one.
