Oban International Shanty Festival bringing a weekend of songs and music of the sea from 24 - 26 June

A weekend of rip-roaring songs and music of the sea await you courtesy of great musicians from France, England and Scotland, performing just for you amidst the spectacular scenery of the Western Highlands.  Tickets for both the free and paid events are available now.

Artistes attending this year's festival include: John Conolly, Les Brouilleurs d'Ecoutes, Monkey's Fist, Muldoon's Picnic, The Silver Darlings, All at Sea, Talitha MacKenzie, Jan Bee Brown, Linn Phipps, Harry Campbell ... plus Oban's very own 'scratch' choir.

St Neots Folk Festival - 10-12 June - including Saturday's Day Of Dance

Taking place at The Priory Centre in St Neots, Cambs, this weekend will have fantastic concerts, a Day of Dance, and a free OpenStage session.

Friday's Showcase evening will feature Rhys Wilson and others,including a New Roots finalist. 

Saturday is the Day of Dance and and the evening concert is with Spiers & Boden, supported by Gaelforce.

Sunday afternoon is the Open Stage session at the Art & Soul cafe, which is followed by the evening concert with Granny's Attic and Jack in a Barrel.

Folk at the Salmon Bothy presents The 12th Haal from 3-5 June in Portsoy

With guests including Eliza and Martin Carthy, Tim Edey, Amy Papiranski, Anna Massie, Margaret Bennett, Jimmy Hutchison, Steve Byrne and Norman Kennedy along with Folk at the Salmon Bothy regulars, it's sure to be a great weekend in Portsoy this year.

Morland Scottish Country Dancing Week at Newby End Farm in Cumbria - 30 May - 3 June

The Morland Scottish Country Dancing week began in 1987, and for nearly 20 years had the benefit of John Drewry and Jackie Johnstone as writers and teachers. After their retirement, the week moved to a new pattern, sharing out among ourselves the work of compiling dance programmes and running morning workshops. For the morning sessions we use recorded music, but for the evening dances we have the services of the highest calibre of live musicians.

Orkney Folk Festival returns from 26-29 May

Stromness is set to come alive to folk music from around the world once again, as the team behind the Orkney Folk Festival have announced a return to a full-scale live event this spring. 

In a fantastic line-up, musicians and singers from throughout Scotland will join artists from England, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, USA and India in appearing alongside scores of home-grown Orcadian artists in venues throughout Stromness and the Orkney mainland, over May 26-29.
